Upper School Chemistry Teacher
Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a full-time upper school Chemistry Teacher for the 2025-2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry and be able to teach at every level, from general to AP Chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in curriculum design and knowledge of the latest trends in pedagogy and assessment methods. The best candidates embrace a healthy combination of joy and rigor in the classroom, love working with and supporting students, and model lifelong learning.
Job Duties:
- Teach four sections of chemistry at the general, honors, and AP levels with the ability to teach electives.
- Provide extensive hands-on laboratory experience for students.
- Meet students for individual help outside of class.
- Serve as advisor to 8-10 Upper School students.
- Participate in extracurricular life at school, including support of Upper School House events, sponsoring a club, coaching, etc.
- Participate in faculty committees and meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science, or a related field.
- Certified, or qualified and willing to become certified, in AP Chemistry
- Knowledgeable in laboratory safety procedures and experience implementing lab safety protocols.
- Possess a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Experience in conducting chemistry labs at the high school level
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience in an upper school, preferably in independent schools.
- Experience teaching AP chemistry.
- Experience and interest in coaching athletics at the high school or middle school level.
- Experience maintaining a chemical stockroom and an inventory list.
