Middle School Language Arts Teacher
Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a full-time Middle School Language Arts teacher for grades 7 and 8. The instructor will be responsible for designing curriculum and assessment strategies in collaboration with the English department. We welcome applicants who have a strong commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community as well as those with a similar commitment to including global literary works among the course texts. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of successful experience teaching close reading and analytical writing.
A love for working with students, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and close-knit teaching environment are a must. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in curriculum design and, depending on experience and background, the candidate may be considered to fill the role of Department Chair.
Primary Job Functions:
- Teach gr. 7 and 8 Language Arts: two sections of each grade, for a total of 4 classes
- Serve as Middle School Advisor: act as an advisor to a group of approximately 10 Middle School students
- Offer individualized help outside of class: be available to offer help to students during mutual free times
- Participate in Middle School Student Life: help plan and implement Middle School activities
- Collaborate with Colleagues: participate in faculty meetings, school committees, and professional development and engage with the members of the English Department
Minimum Requirements:
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Education and/or English
