Key Responsibilities:
1. Makerspace Management:
● We have a generous machine shop that students can use throughout the day. The ideal candidate would be comfortable using and teaching with the wide variety of machines available in this space.
● Oversee the daily operations of the Makerspace, ensuring it is a safe and productive environment.
● Maintain and manage equipment, tools, and supplies.
● Enforce safety protocols and procedures.
● Facilitate student projects, providing guidance on design, construction, and troubleshooting.
2. Supporting Student Learning:
● Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
● Provide individual and group support to help students understand complex concepts.
● Utilize various teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
● Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
● Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
3. Teaching Conceptual Physics:
● Develop and implement a curriculum that emphasizes the conceptual applications of physics.
● Conduct engaging and interactive physics lessons, labs, and experiments.
● Integrate real-world examples and hands-on activities to enhance learning.
● Prepare students for academic assessments and practical examinations.
4. Teaching CAD and Engineering Courses:
● Design and deliver comprehensive CAD and introduction to engineering courses.
● Teach students to use CAD software and other engineering tools.
● Guide students through the engineering design process, from conceptualization and prototyping to fabrication and installation.
● Evaluate student projects and provide mentorship.
5. Director of The Institute for Engineering and Innovation:
● Lead and manage the Institute, setting strategic goals and objectives.
● Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and the community to enhance the Institute’s programming.
● Develop partnerships and secure funding for projects and initiatives.
● Organize events, guest lectures, and field trips to expose students to the engineering field.
● Promote the Institute’s achievements and activities within and outside the school.
● Assist students in meeting graduation requirements of the Institute for Engineering and Innovation.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
● Teaching certification, relevant credentials, or the ability to acquire these credentials.
● Experience managing a Makerspace or similar environment.
● Proficiency in AutoCAD software and other engineering tools.
● Strong knowledge of physics and engineering principles.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to inspire and engage high school students.
● Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Preferred Skills:
● Experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
● Background in project-based learning and experiential education.
● Familiarity with current trends and best practices in STEM education.
● Ability to build and maintain industry and community partnerships.
● Desire to assist with the technical building of theater sets
● Desire to coach the Robotics First league
